Since 2003 Poggio Ugo has had the pleasure of welcoming many guests, especially families, whom often return with affection and satisfaction not only for the Tuscan countryside, but also for the warmth of the people who welcome them here. Not a stereotypical farmhouse, but a true holiday home where the owners immediately establish a human relationship with their guests, this is the driving force that has made Poggio Ugo a landmark holiday for many tourists.
An unspoilt area, characterised by soft hills, lush vegetation and dotted with vineyards, olive groves and stone farmhouses. An area that offers the advantage of being completely immersed in nature but, at the same time, of having all of Tuscany’s most famous attractions just a few kilometres away.
Siena is just over 40 km away, with its unmissable hilly landscapes, the beauty of San Gimignano, Pienza and Montalcino or the medieval charm of Monteriggioni.
Arezzo is about 30 km away and not far away is Cortona, a delightful village with Etruscan tombs that attract visitors from all over the world.
Finally, Florence, just over 50 km away, is one of the most appreciated cities on the planet, with a unique and unrepeatable set of artistic beauties.
But from Poggio Ugo it is also possible to visit the Chianti region, driving along the Strada del Vino (Radda in Chianti, Castellina and Greve) or take a trip to Volterra (90 km), Assisi (100 km), Pisa and Lucca (140 km). Then, those who cannot resist the allure of Rome can visit the Eternal City in about 2 hours by car. In any case, the nearby town of Bucine, only 4 km from Poggio Ugo, offers guests the possibility of a supermarket, numerous restaurants and the railway station. A little further away, 10 km, is the town of Montevarchi, with direct train connections to Florence and Arezzo, as well as shops, cinemas and hypermarkets.
The main airports can be reached within a maximum of 3 hours: Florence Peretola (75 km), Pisa Galileo Galilei (140 km) and Rome Fiumicino (250 km).
Finally, for those who want to discover lesser-known corners of Tuscany, from Poggio Ugo you can easily visit the many wineries in the area, the splendid abbey of San Galgano or, for those who love shopping, the famous – and inexpensive – Prada outlet store (only 7 km from our residence in Tuscany).
